Remember that mysterious tri-fold phone Samsung teased at the Galaxy S25 Unpacked event? Well, the rumor mill is churning! It might be called the “Galaxy G Fold” and could launch as early as Q3 2025. Get ready for some serious foldable innovation!
Tipster yeux1122 spilled the beans on Naver, claiming the G Fold will sport a massive 9.96-inch display – almost 30% larger than the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s screen! When folded, it’s rumored to be about 6.54 inches tall, similar to a regular smartphone. It might be a tad thicker than other phones due to its inward-folding design, but the weight is supposedly comparable to Huawei’s Mate XT.
A “G” Shape for Greater Protection
Here’s the interesting part: the Galaxy G Fold is rumored to use a “G-shaped” folding mechanism. This means both sides of the screen fold inward, offering better protection when closed compared to Huawei’s “S-shaped” fold, which leaves part of the screen exposed. Samsung is also reportedly developing a new kind of display and protective film specifically for the G Fold to boost durability.
Limited Production, Premium Price Tag
Because making a tri-fold phone is super complex, production volumes are expected to be limited. Think of it as an experimental, ultra-premium device, not a mass-market flagship. And speaking of premium, the price tag is likely to match. Considering Huawei’s Mate XT launched near $2,800, Samsung’s tri-fold could easily break the $2,000 barrier.
While some reports pointed to a 2026 launch, display analyst Ross Young suggests Samsung might release the Galaxy G Fold sooner, possibly in late 2025 alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7. So, keep your eyes peeled!
The Foldable Future is Here (Almost)
Samsung’s tri-fold phone is shaping up to be a game-changer in the foldable market. That massive screen, unique folding mechanism, and focus on durability could redefine what’s possible with foldable devices. If the rumors are true, 2025 is going to be a very exciting year for foldable phone fans.
